In this capstone seminar, advanced undergraduate History majors will conduct independent and original research and produce a 25-page research paper that explores the dynamic relationship between revolution and counterrevolution in human history. In this course, students will examine how movements for radical change often provoke organized resistance and reaction. Course readings will interrogate this theme in American history by examining the Civil War, Reconstruction, and Post-Reconstruction eras. However, students may produce their research projects on revolution and counterrevolution in any place and time across human existence.
