Addlestone Library is open to the College of Charleston community and affiliates via card access. Visitors may access Addlestone Library Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, and must present a government issued ID and sign in upon entry.

Cricut: How To Use The Cricut

What is the Cricut Maker?

A Cricut is a cutting machine that allows you to create crafts and DIY projects with a variety of materials such as fabrics, card stock, vinyl, paper, and more. Located near Addlestone's first-floor computer lab, Cricut Maker is available for use by College of Charleston students, faculty, and staff.  The Cricut workstation may be reserved in 2 hour increments for up to 4 hours per day and a total of 10 hours per week.

There is no cost to use the Cricut Maker machine; however, you must provide your own supplies. Learn more about which materials can be used from this material list. For heat transfer items and using the Cricut Easy Press, refer to the Cricut Heat Guide. 

 

What Can You Make With A Cricut?

What Do I Need To Use The Cricut?

  • You will need to sign up for your own Cricut Design Space account.
  • Create designs using Cricut Design Space.  Design your own or purchase premade designs from Cricut.
  • You will need to know your login information for Cricut Design Space in order to access your designs on the workstation (Mac 2 (A/V & Cricut).
  • Material needed to create your design: vinyl, heat transfer vinyl, cardstock, transfer tape, etc
  • Item you want to apply your design to: mugs, t-shirts, etc

We have cutting mats and various blades available for use or you may bring your own Cricut brand mat/tools.

Cricut Design Space

To use the Cricut Design Space, and to make the most of the features, you will want to create a free Cricut Design Space account. The Cricut Design Space can be accessed from a computer or app with internet connection, making it easy for your to work on designs at home and then bring them with you to your reservation to use the Cricut Maker.
