Cricut: Fan Star Instructions

Make a Paper Fan Star!

folded paper fan stars with attached ribbons in colors red, black, green, and brownThe photos and instructions below will guide you through folding and assembling a Fan Star kit, available at the library's Cougar Countdown Event on December 3, 2024.

Materials in the kit include:

  • 5 paper trapezoids cut with the library's Cricut Maker 3
  • glue dots for assembly
  • a ribbon to attach for hanging the star

Fold Your Star Points

Step 1: Place one of the trapezoids face down on your work surface. Fold the longest scored line up and make a crease.

Continue accordion-folding the trapezoid until all score marks are folded.

Pinch the folds together in the middle and fold the shape in half, so that the long, slanted tips meet. Crease this fold.

Apply two glue dots--one near the inner crease and one near the edge--to attach the longest sides together.

Press the sides together. You have completed one star point!

Repeat these steps with the other trapezoids. If you want to hang your finished star with a ribbon, follow the instructions in the next two steps to secure the ribbon in one of your remaining star points.

Attach ribbon for hanging (optional): Follow the first three steps above. Add glue dots as instructed in the fourth step, but do not press the sides together yet. Fold the ribbon in half and attach the cut ends to the inner fold with an additional glue dot.

Assemble Your Star

Take two star points and line them up together along their short edges. Be sure the slanted tips are pointing in the same direction. Attach these short edges using a glue dot.

Continue attaching star points along the short edge until your star is complete!

Hang your star and admire your work!
