Wiley APC voucher update: The Carolina Consortium's APC allotment for Wiley open access publishing is expected to run out in October. Therefore, beginning September 13th, 2024 through December 31, 2024, we recommend that any College of Charleston affiliate who would like to publish their research in a Wiley gold journal have a backup plan for funding their APCs. As Carolina Consortium members, you are eligible for a 10% discount toward publishing gold open access. The average list price for Wiley gold APCs is just over $2,500. The College of Charleston Libraries does not offer additional funding toward these APCs. As part of Carolina Consortium, College of Charleston is allotted vouchers to publish open access in any of Wiley's 1600+ journals. College of Charleston's average number of vouchers per annum is 14. However, voucher availability is limited within a calendar year, is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and is shared among the members of the Carolina Consortium participating in the agreement. Should the Carolina Consortium's voucher pool become exhausted during a given year, corresponding authors are eligible for 10% discount toward APC costs should they wish to publish their research open access within a Wiley journal. License agreements are generally reviewed and signed on an annual basis. The College of Charleston Libraries is currently in the third year of a 3-year Read & Publish agreement with Wiley. Should there be changes to this agreement, they will generally take effect at the start of the new (calendar) year. This guide will be reviewed and updated annually to reflect the most recent Read & Publish terms and conditions.
