College of Charleston Libraries has renewed the Wiley Read & Publish agreement for 2025, 2026, and 2027. For these years, hybrid journals will have unlimited OA publishing. APCs for Gold OA journals will be charged against a shared deposit account each year. Should the account be depleted of funds, it will be replenished at the start of the calendar year. As part of Carolina Consortium, College of Charleston is allotted vouchers to publish open access in any of Wiley's 1600+ journals. College of Charleston's average number of vouchers per annum is 14. However, voucher availability is limited within a calendar year, is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and is shared among the members of the Carolina Consortium participating in the agreement. Should the Carolina Consortium's voucher pool become exhausted during a given year, corresponding authors are eligible for 10% discount toward APC costs should they wish to publish their research open access within a Wiley journal. As of January 2023, any corresponding author affiliated with the College of Charleston may publish their research in either a Wiley gold open access journal (all articles are fully open access) or a Wiley hybrid open access journal (some articles open access).

License agreements are generally reviewed and signed on an annual basis. The College of Charleston Libraries is currently in the third year of a 3-year Read & Publish agreement with Wiley. Should there be changes to this agreement, they will generally take effect at the start of the new (calendar) year. This guide will be reviewed and updated annually to reflect the most recent Read & Publish terms and conditions.
