CofC LibApps Best Practices: LibCal (Appointments, Spaces, Events)

Guidelines for keeping LibGuides, LibCal, and LibAnswers content fresh.

LibCal Spaces

Room bookings in Addlestone Library are handled through LibCal Spaces. This includes public-facing rooms and private conference rooms.

LibCal Events

Most library programs and events should be added to the Events calendar. This ensures Access & Instruction Desk staff can answer questions and help direct patrons and guests to the appropriate location. Using the events calendar also increases the visibility of library programing, including instruction.

Examples of what to put on the events calendar include:

  • Programs open to all CofC students/faculty/staff
  • Programs open to the public
  • Programs open to invited groups
  • Anything scheduled in a library classroom (120, 122, 127, 360) or 227, unless there are reasons to keep the event private

Examples of what usually does not need to go on the events calendar:

  • Meetings in departmental conference rooms or Addlestone 121
  • Meetings/programs/events in other spaces if there is a reason to keep it private

Library-sponsored events that are held in other places on (or off!) campus can be added to the Events calendar.

LibCal Appointments

The library uses LibCal Appointments to offer research appointments for faculty, staff, students and researchers.
