The goal of our new assessment cycle is to investigate student awareness of the point of need instruction (PONI) model. Additionally, we plan to explore the impact it has had on student learning and success.
Assessment of PONI offered by the Access and Instruction Unit was previously completed in 2020. However, the structure of our model has changed with the addition of Access and Instruction (A&I) Specialists answering research questions at the Access and Instruction Desk (AID). Additionally, librarians no longer have shifts at the AID with the A&I Specialists.
The timing of this assessment also coincides with the revival of our Annual User Survey. The survey will be sent out to College of Charleston students in Fall 2025. The focus of this survey will be on the PONI model.
Students indicate awareness of the point of need instruction (PONI) model and feel that it has a positive effect on their learning and success. Strategy 1: Gather and analyze data from user experience (UX) research to assess students' attitudes and awareness concerning the PONI model.
Target 1: Develop and implement a PONI marketing plan.
